Broken Embraces

MV5BMzA1ODU3MzI2NF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzc3MzA3Mg@@._V1_SY317_CR0,0,214,317_Pedro Almodóvar & Penélope Cruz team up together for this film and let’s face it any film with Penélope in is a must! Not only is she very easy on the eye but she is also a wonderfully riverting actress! Anything she does she really does control the camera and your attention is on her when she is on the screen.

This is a very interesting film. The story is mainly about a blind screen director who calls himself Harry Crane – what follows is slightly fragmented, we jump about within time to a degree and learn how he came to be blind. His agent and her son are the other main characters, the main part of the film involves Harry telling Diego (the son) all about a film he made 14 years ago and how that film changed the path of his life.

It’s a really good film – visually stunning; not only due to Miss Cruz but the scenery is lovely too.

One particular shot when they are on a beach and gaze down there are two isolated figures kissing – a beautiful moment in time.

I really enjoyed the film and it had us gripped. The film is subtitled but as with all such films you soon forget you are reading the text!
