A Single Man

imagesThis is a very stylish film, from the king of American Style, Tom Ford. Set in Los Angeles in 1962. We meet George Falconer, a British college professor (Colin Firth) who is struggling to find some meaning in his life after the death of his long-time partner, Jim (Matthew Goode).

The film unfolds through the course of one day a la Mrs. Dalloway. The events of that one day lead him to decide if there is in fact meaning to life after Jim. The ever-gorgeous Julianne Moore pops up as his best friend who he has in fact slept with once – she hangs onto this and hopes for more. A gorgeous student befriends him and appears as the day draws to a close.

It’s a very introspective film, Colin Firth is very goods, he plays the character with great sensitivity, you can really see his pain and grief at the loss of his lover. Highly recommend this film!
